Louis George Edward Gee was born in Bournemouth (Christchurch Q4-1894 2B:669), son of George Henry and Lydia Keturah GEE (née GREEN).
1901 census...Aged 6, he was in West Street, "near the Home of the Sacred Mission", Mildenhall with his father George H GEE [41] a shoemaker born Mildenhall; his mother Lydia K [55] born Iwerne, Dorset; sisters Winifred R [3] born Bournemouth and Ida F [9 months] born in Mildenhall. 1911 census...Aged 16, a newsboy he was at West Street with his parents, sister Ida Florence and brothers Henry James Percy [8], Sidney Alfred Robert [6] and Leslie Albert Charles [4]. His mother's age appears to have been incorrectly entered in the prevous census, she is now a more believable 45 yrs. Sister Winifred was in Iwerne Minster, Dorset with her grandparents George and Ann GREEN. |

He enlisted in Newmarket.
Dying of his wounds and no service records found it is impossible to be precise as to when and where he was wounded. The battalion had been taking part in no major actions, just routine spells in and out of the trenches around the Peronne sector. Even so the period July-September cost the battalion 250 or so casualties. Tincourt was the centre for several Casualty Clearing Stations
